LUFC Clayton hoping for promotion push

LUFC Clayton hoping for promotion push

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says the team cannot wait for their next game as they continue their promotion push.

Leeds go into Saturday`s game at Watford on the back of four wins in five games and Clayton says the sides are in their best form of the season.

Speaking to SkySports.com, Clayton said, 'We can't wait to get into the next game.
'The last two games have probably been our best two performances of the season, so if we can continue that we can start looking at pushing on into the top two.
'I'm sure we will try to keep that passion and desire we have had in the last two games for the rest of the season.'

Clayton is enjoying a watershed season in the Leeds side having struggled in his first season with the club last term.

The midfielder, who signed from Manchester City in August 2010 made just four substitute appearances for Leeds before spending much of the season on loan at Peterborough United and MK Dons.

After enjoying a successful pre-season, Clayton has earned rave reviews this season, missing just one game through injury.

He has also contributed with five goals so far this season including a superb strike at Leicester City, which earned all three points.

Clayton is hoping that the side can continue their good run at Watford on Saturday and for the rest of the season, which will hopefully culminate in promotion. 'We go into every game trying to win the game. It's so tough to win games in this division, but we go into every game with that intention. We will see where that takes us at the end of the season,' he continued.

Leeds are currently in fifth place in the championship, six points behind second placed West Ham United, who are currently in the final automatic promotion spot.
