LUFC Bates full of praise for McCarthy

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has praised the contribution made by on loan goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

McCarthy is due to play his last game of his loan spell for Leeds in the game at Watford on Saturday. The team have enjoyed a great run since his arrival on loan from Reading, something Bates alluded to when speaking on Yorkshire Radio, "He has played for us in five games, we have won four, lost one and we have had three clean sheets. What an impressive young man.
"I would just like to thank him and wish him well in his career, which I think will be absolutely brilliant."

Regular number goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is now back in training after breaking his finger at Doncaster in October and he played in a behind closed doors friendly last week.

Veteran goalkeeper Maik Taylor is also available having joined Leeds on a short-term deal last month.

He wont even be bench warming when he goes back to Reading. Get him in for the season, or we could always spend some of the cash we have 'apparently' got to spend from the sales of Schmeichel and Gradel

Whats Bates up to letting McCarthy go back?...He's praising the lad and knows how good! He is...He should be trying to persuade! Reading to sell! McCarthy imo he's as good or even better! Then Lonergan...But Bates wont spend a penny...The lad has played five games we won! Four and drew one...Even try! Keep him on lone! Another great player Leeds are gonna lose!...
