LUFC Howson - I love more natural role

LUFC Howson - I love more natural role

Leeds United captain Jonny Howson believes he is playing in his more natural position when he plays just behind the striker.

Howson was restored to the role at Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night, for the first time since the opening day defeat at Southampton.

He was rewarded for his efforts with a stunning 25-yard volley for his first goal of the season.

He believes the role is his more natural position and a role he loves playing.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Howson said, "I`ve mentioned it before that I love to play in that role. It`s no secret.

"For me, personally, I believe it`s my natural position. I just do things automatically when I`m playing there.

"I`ve got the insurance of having Clayts (Adam Clayton) and Browny (Michael Brown) behind me and I knew I could push on every time we got the ball. It gave me more freedom and it`s something I really enjoy.

"When I play there, I always believe I`m going to create chances or get chances myself."

Howson played in the role for a long period of last season and he was rewarded with his best goal return for the club, netting eleven times during the season.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson is yet to decide whether to stay with the same formation that saw Howson and Leeds play so well at Forest in midweek, as they recorded their highest win of the season, when beating Forest 4-0.
