'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Leeds announce plans for Saturday

Leeds United have announced their plans to commemorate the life of former Leeds midfielder Gary Speed at Elland Road this weekend.

Prior to kick off there will be a minute`s applause in memory of Speed who died last Sunday.

There will also be a video montage of some of Speed`s finest moments during his eight years at Elland Road on the big screen.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson and Millwall boss Kenny Jackett will then lay wreaths.

There will also be a banner with the words, 'Go on Gary Speed, get one yourself son` in reference to the commentary from Leeds 4-0 win over Sheffield United in 1990, when a young Speed capped a superb Leeds performance with the fourth goal.

Both sides will wear black armbands with the Leeds wearing ones with Speed 11 on them.

Leeds fans can also pay tribute outside the ground by laying wreaths, flowers, scarves, shirts or any mementos` at the Billy Bremner statue.

It is especially poignant as it will be just four days short of the fourteenth anniversary of the death of Billy Bremner.

Leeds have also announced that a suite in the new East stand developments will be named after Speed.

Fans are being advised to arrive early for the 12.30pm kick off with the Kop and South Stand already sold out for the game.

Should be an emotional day. Glad to see Leeds have really pulled out the stops for Gary.
