LUFC Grayson - We can play a lot better than that

LUFC Grayson - We can play a lot better than that

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was left disappointed after seeing his side lose for the second home game in a row, this time against Barnsley in a 2-1 defeat.

The whites had actually come into the game on the back of back-to-back away wins, but another lacklustre home performance, which has seen them pick up just two points from a possible twelve in their last four home games, left Grayson disappointed with the team`s performance.

Speaking after the game, Grayson said, 'When you look at our previous results, winning the last two away from home, then we want to build on recent games.
'We started well but without any real opportunities. They slowed the play down, we allowed Barnsley time on the ball and they have players who can hit you on the counter-attack.
'We normally have movement and opportunities at home, but here, even when we scored the goal, we didn't work their keeper or back four enough.
'We can play a lot better than that.'

Leeds failed to work the Barnsley goalkeeper in the first half with only a Robert Snodgrass shot, which went well wide of the post, and a goalmouth scramble following a corner to show for a poor first half performance.

At the other end, Leeds were made to pay when Ricardo Vaz Te opened the scoring with a scuffed shot from close range and Craig Davies scored a second when he was quickest to react when McCarthy couldn`t hold onto a Butterfield shot.

Leeds improved in the second half, Snodgrass hit the post and McCormack got Leeds back into the game with a superbly executed free kick close to the hour.

Barnsley were reduced to ten men close to full time when Danny Perkins received a second yellow card for a foul on Andy Keogh.

Ramon Nunez missed a good chance to equalise for Leeds in stoppage time but it would have been a point they did not deserve after another poor home performance.
