Leeds recent poor home form continued with a 2-1 defeat against Yorkshire neighbours Barnsley at Elland Road.
The defeat means Leeds have now picked up just two points from a possible twelve in their last four home games.
Tom Lees came back into the Leeds side for the suspendered Darren O`Dea, Lloyd Sam retained his place in the side despite the return to fitness of Danny Pugh and there was a rare start for Luciano Becchio who came in for Andy Keogh.
In a first half of very few chances for Leeds, Robert Snodgrass came closest when he shot wide.
Leeds were undone twice in the first half. The first goal came rather fortuitously. Lloyd Sam`s slip allowed Jim O`Brien time and space to pick out Ricardo Vaz Te and his scuffed shot looped over Alex McCarthy.
The lead was doubled close to half time when McCarthy couldn`t hold onto a Jacob Butterfield shot and Craig Davies was on hand to score from close range.
Leeds came out more determined in the second half and Robert Snodgrass came very close to pulling a goal back for Leeds when his shot hit the post.
Ross McCormack got Leeds back into the game just short of the hour when his free kick gave Luke Steele no chance.
The goal, McCormack`s eleventh of the season was his first in nine games.
Leeds boss Simon Grayson threw on Ramon Nunez and Andy Keogh in the search for an equaliser.
Barnsley were reduced to ten men late on when Danny Perkins was sent off for a second yellow card.
Leeds had a late chance to secure a point when Ramon Nunez found space at the back post but Steele kept out his shot.
Despite the defeat, Leeds remain in fifth place in the championship.
Leeds are quickly back in action with a trip to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night.
