LUFC Leeds v Barnsley Head To Head

Vital Leeds looks at the head to head record between Leeds and Barnsley at Elland Road ahead of the Championship clash on Saturday.

The two sides have met on 26 previous occasions with Leeds winning 13, Barnsley 5 and 8 draws.

The first ever clash between the two came during the 1920/21 season when they battled out a 0-0 draw.

Leeds last win came during the 2000/01 season when they won an FA Cup third round clash 1-0 thanks to a goal from Mark Viduka.

The last time Barnsley won at Elland Road was during Leeds promotion season of 1989/90, six visits ago.

Two late goals earned relegation threatened Barnsley a 2-1 win in Leeds penultimate home game of the season to inflict their only home defeat of the season.

When the two sides met last season the game finished 3-3. Max Gradel netted twice and Luciano Becchio, but they had to settle for a point when Trippier scored late on for Barnsley.

After last season and although I was unhappy with the performance against Burnley, I would take a scrappy 1-0 win.
