LUFC McCarthy would welcome Leeds stay

Leeds United on loan goalkeeper Alex McCarthy is enjoying his stay at Elland Road and says it would be a bonus if he was to stay past his initial month`s loan.

McCarthy joined on the eve of the Leicester City game and Leeds have taken six points from a possible six since his arrival.

McCarthy produced a man of the match performance at Burnley on Saturday with a string of fine saves and he is enjoying getting games under his belt.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, McCarthy said, "I really don`t know. At the moment, it`s just for a month until December 10.

The main thing is I want to be playing games. When it comes closer to the time, I think we`ll sit down and speak about it. We`ll just have to see how it goes.

I`m playing games and that`s the main thing. If I stay longer, for whatever reason, it would obviously be a bonus. There`s six games (in my loan) to get under my belt."

Leeds regular number one, Andy Lonergan is still recovering from a broken finger, although it is hoped he will have returned to full fitness by the time McCarthy`s loan ends after the Watford game.
