LUFC Grayson praises on loan keeper

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was full of praise for on loan goalkeeper Alex McCarthy after the win over Burnley at the weekend.

McCarthy on loan for a month from Reading kept Leeds in the game at 1-0 down, with a string of fine saves, which impressed Grayson.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Grayson said, "Alex kept us in the game and he`s a very good goalkeeper. He`s got a presence about him and you can see why Reading and England rate him. He`s going to be a top keeper in the future and we`re lucky to have him while Andy Lonergan`s injured."

His saves proved crucial as Leeds went on to win the game 2-1 and move into the play off places again in fifth place.

McCarthy is on loan at Elland Road until the Watford game on December 10th.

Regular goalkeeper Andy Lonergan is still recovering from the broken finger he sustained in the Doncaster game in October.

Youngster Alex Cairns is acting as back up to McCarthy whilst Lonergan is injured.

Leeds have yet to announce whether veteran goalkeeper Maik Taylor will be signing after enjoying a trial at Elland Road.

It is also expected that Paul Rachubka will be going out on loan this week to try to repair the damage done to his confidence after a serious of high profile blunders saw him hauled off at half time against Blackpool earlier this month.

He was outstanding at Burnley, can we keep him
tINY t
He was excellent on Saturday. He is only third chioce at the moment at Reading. Would be nice to keep him around but can't see Reading wanting to sell him.
