LUFC O'Brien didn't want to play at Leicester

Simon Grayson says Andy O`Brien also didn`t want to play at Leicester City after the defender said he never wanted to play for the club again on the eve of the trip to Burnley on Saturday.

Grayson speaking in his post-match press interview on Saturday said that O`Brien had been in to see him on Friday and told him he never wanted to play for the club again.

The Leeds boss as now said that the experienced defender did not want to play in the trip to Leicester, proceeding the international break.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson said, "He didn`t really fancy playing against Leicester but I told him 'I want you to play and I`ll back you publicly and privately.` I heaped enough praise on him after the game and so did the other players."

The Leicester game was O`Brien`s first start since being hauled off in the second game of the season against Bradford City. Something that O`Brien stated himself last week was 'a shock to the system`.

O`Brien put in a man of the match performance in the 1-0 win at Leicester and was all set to retain his place in the side despite the availability of Darren O`Dea and Tom Lees, who were forced to miss the Leicester game through injury and suspension.

Grayson says O`Brien will never play for the club again and the club will decide what action to take this week.

The defender was linked with a loan move to fellow championship side West Ham United last week and with the loan transfer window closing this week until January, Grayson may be keen to offload O`Brien to avoid causing disharmony in the Leeds ranks.

Should go now, get rid, we don't need players in and around the squad who don't want to play for the club. He didn't want to play at Leicester! - Exactly what is Leigh Bromby and Alex Bruce doing at the club if we have to beg somebody to play ahead of them. Something not right in the background at Elland Road. Is Grayson losing the dressing room?

Just listened to the interview on LUTV and Ben Fry was obviously gobsmacked when Grayson said what AOB had done. Grayson told the players Friday night at the hotel and said anyone who didnt want to play for Leeds would be on his way. Maybe this was a contributing factor to the poor start to the game.
