LUFC Bates - We must get promotion this year

Ken Bates says the club must get promoted this season after meeting with manager Simon Grayson in Monaco this week.

With the international break in full flow, Grayson flew out to Monaco to meet up with the Leeds chairman.

Bates says they had a very valuable and constructive meeting and given them time to reflect as they have reached a third of the way through the season.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "It was a very constructive meeting. In depth, I suppose, frank and meaningful discussion onto the various good high and low points of the season so far. It was very valuable indeed and I think that we must get promotion this year and maybe be a little more tougher on certain playing matters. It has given us time to reflect and it has been very constructive."

Leeds are currently one place outside the play off places in seventh place.

Once again, the championship is proving a competitive division with only six points separating fifth and nineteenth place.

Leeds are currently six points behind West Ham in second place who fill the final automatic promotion place whilst Southampton continue to set the pace at the top of the division, eleven points ahead of Leeds at this stage.
