LUFC Clayton aiming for double figures

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton is hoping to emulate his midfield partner Jonny Howson and reach double figures in the goalscoring charts for Leeds this season.

Howson netted eleven times last season, including a 15-minute hat trick at Scunthorpe United and Clayton is hoping to also reach double figures having netted four times already this season.

Clayton scored his most recent goal in the 1-0 win at Leicester City on Sunday, when he beat former Leeds keeper Kasper Schmeichel with a superb strike from 25 yards.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Clayton said, "It`s my first season (as a regular), so I will take four so far. But I think there`s a lot more to come if I can keep getting chances.
"Hopefully, I can do what Jonny (Howson) did last year and get to the magic 10."

Clayton has been a consistent performer in the Leeds midfield this season after struggling in his first season at Elland Road.

He signed from Manchester City in the summer of 2010 but after only four substitute appearances for the club he spent most of the season on loan at Peterborough United and MK Dons in League One.

His performances have not gone unnoticed in front of the live Sky TV cameras and he has been named man of the match on four separate occasions by the Sky pundits.
