LUFC In the news top flight referee to take charge

Premier League referee Chris Foy will be the man in charge when Leeds United travel to Birmingham City on Wednesday night.

The Merseyside official has taken charge of 7 games so far this season, showing 19 yellow cards (2.71 per game) and 4 reds.

His figures were dramatically increased after officiating the Queens Park Rangers and Chelsea game on Sunday, where he issued 9 yellow cards and 2 reds.

Last season he took control of 34 games, showing 89 yellow cards (2.61 per game) and 4 reds.

The last time he took charge of Birmingham was towards the end of last season when they were beaten 2-1 at Newcastle United in a game where Birmingham defender Liam Ridgewell was shown a red card.

His last game in charge of Leeds was also last season when he sent off Nottingham Forest player Chris Cohen in a 4-1 Leeds win.

In his only other game in charge of Leeds last season, they also won that, 2-1 at Middlesbrough.

Foy was the referee in charge of January 3rd 2010 when Leeds United won 1-0 at Manchester United.

Referee: Chris J. Foy (Merseyside)
Assistants: Richard West & Peter Bankes
Fourth official: Darren Deadman

I actually thought he had a good game in the QPR V Chelsea game. The sending offs and bookings were all worthy. I also thought his handling of the FA Cup game at Man Utd was excellent.

Still dangerous having a guy like this around (especially after odea got some bad press this weekend) think the league will want Brum to have a "fair" crack to help em ease their euro excursions and a quiet word with ref may be possible

O'Dea, better keep his head down lol...Every time Leeds had Foy they won! And sent off a Forest player, when Leeds beat them 4-1...Leeds are getting hard refs for a long time) even the game against Posh, a lot said the ref was a bad one including me, we all know what happened, I'd all Leeds fans were happy having him lol the rest is history...Maybe our luck with referees are changing, for the better hopefully...

Lets hope he keeps his cards in his pocket allows free flowing football oh and ensures we win
