'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Like a chip off the old block

Darren Ferguson proved he is a chip off the old block when whinging about the officials and the amount of time added on at the end of the game against Leeds United.

Ferguson, the son of master of time added on Alex, was less than happy after Leeds claimed the winner in the sixth minute of added time.

The fourth official had indicated 'a minimum` of four minutes of added time at the end of normal time but with referee Keith Stroud playing six minutes, he was all emotional when Leeds claimed the winner with the last kick of the game.

Speaking on Sky Sports, "I'm stood by the linesman, he (the fourth official) puts four minutes up, and then he adds two more minutes on and I can hear him say: 'That's time up', but there's another two minutes added on.
'It's all about them, you can't go near officials, you can't talk to them for 30 minutes. It's all about them.
'Four minutes of injury time and they score in 96 minutes. But don't forget it's Leeds United, so it'll be okay.'

Quite what he means by his last sentence is hard to fathom as Leeds United are usually on the wrong end of refereeing decisions.

wonder if they scored in the 96th min he would come out and say leeds were unlucky today cos there should of been only 4 mins of extra time. at the end of the day u play to the whistle blows. and also at the end of the day its gets dark

I was expecting more than four minutes. Clayton had a lenghty injury. There was six substitutions (supposed to be 30 seconds each) and Leeds fans were wasting time not giving the ball back. I expected at least five minutes so in the end the referee got it right. When the board is put up, it is to indicate 'a minimum of amount of minutes' not that exact amount of minutes. I think he was upset the amount of stick Leeds fans were giving him as well.

Would have loved to have seen Wingers face when O'Dea scored....Lovely hope he phoned and whinged to his dad. His comment about Leeds is a bit funny...Did his old man say something bad about our supporters?
