LUFC Johnson on verge of England squad

According to reports in the media on Saturday, former Leeds United midfielder Bradley Johnson is on the verge of the England squad.

The Sun have reported that Johnson has been included in the provisional squad for the crucial European 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Friday.

Although he is not expected to make the final 23-man squad, the sun says that he will be included in the squad for the friendly with France at Wembley in November.

Johnson left Leeds at the end of June to join Premier League side Norwich City on a free transfer after running down his contract at Elland Road.

The midfielder has missed their opening day game at Wigan Athletic but he has been an ever present in the Norwich midfield since and he scored his first Premier League goal in the win at Bolton in September.

Johnson made 140 appearances for Leeds in three seasons at Elland Road and was an almost ever present in Simon Grayson`s side in the championship last season.

I am not surprised. I always thought that the Premier League would suit him much better and Lambert is obviously playing him in the correct position. I was never a fan of his but this does not shock me that much. I think it says more about how we managed him rather than his inabilities.
