LUFC Clayton wants long-term Leeds future

Leeds United midfielder Adam Clayton says he would like to stay at Elland Road for a very long time.

The midfielder, who signed last summer from Manchester City, has been earning rave reviews this season after a string of fine performances.

His performances have not gone unnoticed and he is already being linked with a host of other clubs, but Clayton says that he is more than happy at Elland Road and would like to stay with the club for a very long time.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Clayton said, "I would love to stay at Leeds for a very long time. I have not even thought about leaving, it`s not even crossed my mind. I am more than happy at the moment."

Clayton struggled to break into the Leeds first team last season making just four substitute appearances and he spent a large part of the season on loan at Peterborough United and MK Dons.

The 22 year old made his first start for the club on the opening day of this season at Southampton and he has been an almost ever present since.

Clayton has filled the gap left by the departure in the summer of fellow midfielders Neil Kilkenny and Bradley Johnson and his energy in midfield is quickly making him a huge fans favourite.

He has also chipped in with a couple of goals already this season, including a last minute equaliser in the 2-2 draw at West Ham United.

Clayton is contracted to Leeds United until the end of the 2012/13 season.

Great to hear these words but have to remember that its exactly what Mad Max was saying this time last year. His agent will probably be in his ear already saying to leave the comments to him.

He's got 18 months left on his current deal. Now is the time to sort out an extended deal and not next summer because we all know what the outcome will be.
