LUFC Grayson - Vayrynen's got fantastic pedigree

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is delighted to have captured Finland international midfielder Mika Vayrynen saying he`s signed a player with 'fantastic pedigree`.

Vayrynen has spent the past ten years playing in the Dutch top division with Heerenveen and PSV Eindhoven, as well as playing for his nation on 54 occasions.

Leeds beat of competition from a number of clubs to secure the services of Vayrynen, and he cannot wait for his opportunity at Elland Road.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson said, "There were good offers from other clubs on the continent but he turned them down because of his ambition to play for Leeds.
"He`s an experienced midfielder and he`s got fantastic pedigree.
"He can play as an attacking midfielder or a holding midfielder and he`s delighted to get the opportunity here."

The 29 year old will bolster Leeds midfield with Adam Clayton and Zac Thompson missing through injury last weekend, whilst Michael Brown returned after three weeks out through injury.

I wonder what his fitness levels are if he's been without a club since the end of last season. He came off the bench in both of Finland's games the other week. I wonder if he's been training with anyone or spent pre season somewhere.

Looks like he's had quite a bit of time out with injury over recent years --- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_V%C3%A4yrynen_(footballer) --- are we gonna get another crock pot who still dreams about good football ??
