'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC On this day September 10th

Vital Leeds look back at Leeds history on September 10th over the years.

Today will be the nineteenth occasion that Leeds have played on September 10th.

Form seems to suggest that a draw will be the most likely outcome today with Leeds winning 4, losing 5 and drawing 9 of their previous 18 games on this day.

Amazingly of the eighteen previous games on this day, sixteen have been at Elland Road.

The last few times Leeds have played on this day, there has been late drama.

On the last occasion, Leeds lost at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers to a last minute Jay Bothroyd in front of the live TV cameras.

In the previous season, Leeds came from 2-0 and 3-1 down at home to Brighton to claim a point in a 3-3 draw thanks to a last minute Jonathan Douglas goal.

Some games stick in my mind. The Man City game in 88 an ageing Neil McNabb was in the City midfield. Youngster David Batty had just broke into the side and my mate was on YTS forms at the time. Batty used to tell everyone who he was going to kick about that day and McNabb was on his radar. He didn't disappoint and got right under his skin. Could you imagine a player today telling you who he planned to kick around all afternoon.
