This is one referee who has benefitted from years of refereeing in the Football League. Unlike the joker Anthony Taylor who has been fast tracked in just four years into the Premier League, Mathieson as spent over 10 years officiating in the Football League. I will openly admit when he first came through in the late 90's I couldn't stand him. But he is now very consistent and I think it shows in the amount of yellow and red cards that he dishes out, which is a very low average. I also must admit he went up in my estimation last season when it showed you him on the Football League show going down the tunnel after our game with QPR giving Neil Warnock a good blast after Warnock was whinging about a few decisions. Lets hope he now doesn't let me down on Saturday!!

Hopefully he is a good one for a change...After some of the refs we had so far we deserve a decent guy...When White got his marching orders it was one of the linesmen that got him sent off so lets hope we have a fair ref and two good linesmen,''...

He's gone unnoticed in his last few games when in charge of Leeds which usually tells you he's had a good game.
