LUFC Bates reveals Gradel fee

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates has revealed that Leeds will receive £1.75 million for Max Gradel over the next year in an interview on Yorkshire Radio.

Gradel left Leeds to join top French side St Etienne on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee.

Bates revealed the breakdown of the deal with St Etienne that also included a 17.5% sell on clause stipulated by his former club Leicester City.

"We bought him for £100,000 from Leicester and they had a 17.5% sell on clause. The fee we get they will get 17.5% and there is a 5% levy to the Football League.
"We have got a substantial sum which is £1.75 million net over a year," commented Bates.

Gradel had to break of from international duty with Ivory Coast in Africa to complete the deal in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

As honest as K B gets, now we have to wait until January to spend it. If theres any left after his box has been finished.

tiny t when could we spend it if it's over the course of a year? before we receive it? even if we sold him two months ago to a team that hadn't bid for him and the deal would pay out over the course of a year when could we spend it?

As we reportedly turned down higher offers for Max Gradel earlier, does anyone think we are not being told the full story about how much he really went for?
