LUFC Leeds United season stats so far

With August coming to an end and the championship on an international break this weekend it`s as good a time as any to look at the early season stats.

Leeds have struggled at the start of the season picking up just four points from their opening five games and finding themselves in eighteenth place.

Shooting - Championship

Ross McCormack is leading the way for Leeds in the championship having netted three times in five games.

Only four players, Kevin Phillips - Blackpool, Charlie Austin - Burnley, Marvin Emnes - Middlesbrough and David Connolly - Southampton have scored more goals, all scoring four each.

Leeds have netted eight times in total with Max Gradel, Robert Snodgrass, Ramon Nunez, Tom Lees and Adam Clayton also finding the target as well as McCormack.

Southampton and Peterborough United are leading the way having both netted twelve times in their opening five games.

Coventry City and Doncaster have scored the least amount having only netted twice.

Derby County have the best defensive record having conceded just three goals so far this season and they have also kept the most clean sheets with three.

Only Ipswich Town have a poorer defensive record than Leeds so far this season having conceded fourteen, seven of those coming in one game.

Leeds have conceded nine goals along with Watford.

Only four clubs have yet to keep a clean sheet. Peterborough United, Burnley and Doncaster Rovers join Leeds without a clean sheet so far this season.

Winger Robert Snodgrass is amongst the leaders in assists so far this season. The Scotland winger as set up three goals with only Matthew Taylor at West Ham (four) having made more assists.

Leeds have had 58 shots on goal so far this season, 35 on target and 23 off.

Peterborough are leading the way with 89 attempts whilst Barnsley have had the least amount with 31.


Middlesbrough have hit the woodwork the most so far having had six attempts come off the post or bar.

Leeds are amongst three clubs who have hit the woodwork four times.

Only Doncaster Rovers and Coventry City have yet to hit the woodwork so far this season.

Ross McCormack has been the busiest Leeds player in front of goal having had 17 attempts on goal so far with 13 of these on target.

Only three players have had more shots on target, Grant McCann - Peterborough, Adam Lallana - Southampton and Marvin Sordell - Watford have all had 14.

Discipline

Portsmouth have made the most fouls so far this season having made 80. Leeds are in second place with 61.

Portsmouth have also had the most yellow cards with 14 whilst Leeds and Brighton are joint second with 13.

Leeds have had the most red cards so far this season having already been issued with 3.

Leicester City and Ipswich Town have both received two each.

Cardiff City have made the least amount having conceded 31 fouls.

Southampton have received the least amount of yellow cards with just three although they are one of only seven clubs to have picked up at least one red card.

Strikers Darius Henderson - Millwall and Barry Robson - Middlesbrough have committed the most fouls so far this season having both committed 14 each.

Adam Clayton has committed the most for Leeds with 10.

Players used

Barnsley and Watford have used the most players so far this season having used 23 each.

Leeds are seventh having used 21.

Derby County and Hull City have used the least amount with 17 each.

Leeds currently have six players who have started all five-championship games so far this season. Patrick Kisnorbo, Ross McCormack, Darren O`Dea, Robert Snodgrass, Adam Clayton and Andy Lonergan the players.

Attendances

West Ham United currently have the best home average with 26,966 going through the turnstiles. Leeds are fourth with an average of 24,006.

The highest gate in the championship so far this season was 28,252 when Leeds visited West Ham.

Leeds three away games at West Ham, Southampton and Ipswich Town have been the highest home gates so far for our opponents.

Leeds highest home attendance was for the visit of Middlesbrough when 25,650 attended.

Doncaster Rovers have the lowest average with 9,528 on average attending their home games so far.

The lowest crowd of the season in the championship was also at Doncaster when just 7,778 attended their home game with Bristol City.

In all competitions, Ramon Nunez is leading the way for Leeds with five goals, one in the league and four in the Carling Cup, followed by McCormack with four.

Ross McCormack has had the most shots on goal with 25, 16 on and 9 off.

Ramon Nunez is next with 15, 8 on target and 7 off.

Leeds have hit the woodwork four times with Robert Snodgrass twice hitting the goal frame. Jonny Howson and Ross McCormack are the other players.

Adam Clayton has made the most fouls so far this season with twelve. Robert Snodgrass and Jonny Howson are next with nine each.

Clayton has also picked up the most yellow cards with three and he is already just two cautions away from a one-match suspension.

Ross McCormack is the only Leeds player to have started all seven games so far this season.

Five players have started six games. Patrick Kisnorbo, Andy Lonergan, Adam Clayton, Darren O`Dea and Jonny Howson these players.

Howson missed the Hull City game through suspension and it is the only Championship game that he has missed in Leeds 51 championship games since winning promotion.

Leeds have had seven players make their first appearances in a Leeds shirt this season.

Andy Lonergan, Paul Rachubka, Tom Lees, Darren O`Dea, Charlie Taylor, Zac Thompson and Michael Brown all making their debuts.

Defo haven't had a good start this season...Hopefully we can start getting some good results starting by beating Palace next week...And no more rejects refs! So far after 5 games 15 yellow and 3 red that did cost us,''...
