LUFC Fans view v West Ham United

I was in the hot seat at West Ham United, I give you my fans view, and player ratings from the battling draw at West Ham United.

Lonergan 8

He is looking a top class signing. Another tremendous game and three or four fantastic saves from him. The one from point blank range kept Leeds in the game.

Lees 7
He was at fault for West Ham`s opening goal when he switched off for a moment and Carlton Cole punished him. Apart from that, another good display from the youngster.

Kisnorbo 7
Not quite sure what he was doing with the own goal? He must have taken coaching tips from Tom Lees in midweek. He had a tough battle all afternoon with Cole and John Carew and probably won. He is getting fitter all the time and a real bonus to see him back at the heart of the defence. If only he had been fit last season.

O`Dea 7
I am still not convinced by O`Dea and I think he will get a lot of yellow cards this season. Mainly because of his temperament. He had the quieter game of the two centre backs.

White 7
I was impressed by White. I am not convinced he is the answer to our problem at left back but he does seem to have strengthened up over the summer and had a really good game. He should have won Leeds a penalty in the second half when he was clearly taken out by Scott Parker.

Snodgrass 7
A decent game from Snodgrass and he looked a threat whenever he had the ball. He linked up well with Andy Keogh for the first goal.

Howson 7
I thought he was quiet in the first half as Clayton ran the show in midfield. Second half he came more into the game and was very unlucky not to get the Leeds equaliser himself when his shot hit both the crossbar and post.

Clayton 9 Man of the Match
This lad just gets better and better and he is now playing with a swagger of a player in great form. Against a midfield that boasted Mark Noble, Scott Parker and Kevin Nolan, Clayton ran the show. Breaking play up, good intelligent passing and it was all capped off with the equaliser. West Ham manager Sam Allardyce had to go into the Leeds dressing room after the game and ask Clayton if he could have the West Ham midfield back, as they had been in his pockets all afternoon.

Gradel 7
He will be disappointed with his penalty miss and it probably would not have beaten the West Ham keeper had he got his shot it inside the post. He battled well all day and looked a threat.

Keogh 7
I don`t think he is going to score many goals for Leeds but he brings a lot to the side. Holds the ball up well and he has a good turn of pace and is skilful.

McCormack 7
He looks a different striker with a player alongside him. Scored the first equaliser and could have got a few more. People are still questioning him, but that`s five goals now in his last seven competitive games for Leeds.

Substitutes

Nunez 7

Made a good contribution when he came on, including one dangerous looking free kick that was right on the spot.

Sam
Not on long enough to make any sort of contribution.

Summary
After conceding so early I was quite worried that we could have been on the wrong end of a heavy defeat.
A completely different response and performance from the one that lost at Southampton in our only other away game this season.
We looked the better side for long periods and when you looked at the West Ham side and especially there midfield I expected us to struggle. Full credit to Clayton and Howson who won this battle and the rest of the team can all come away feeling they have played well. Cannot say one player had a bad game yesterday.
We have to keep this up now and climb up the table. Plenty of encouragement for the fans, who once again were superb. Plenty of banter with a small section of West Ham fans in the chicken run that applauded our support at the finish.

A great team display Dazza after going behind so early. Feel that maybe you have given a couple the benefit of the doubt with 7's but what the hell after a performance like that.

Much as I saw it on the TV, thought the middle of the park was ours when you consider it was a Prem midfield they had, we bossed it especially with the way Clayton has started the season, hard to see how Brown gets back in now.

Think Keough was worth an 8 and wouldnt have scored Gradel above a 6 (he didnt have his best game and come on ... he missed a penalty)
