Leeds United have the slightly better record of games played on August 21st as the head to the capital to face West Ham United.

In 14 games, they have won 6, lost 4 and drawn 4 and have been involved n some memorable games.

It was on this day in 1995 that Tony Yeboah scored the goal of the season against Liverpool. Yeboah hit an unstoppable shot that left David James stranded, as his 25-yard volley nearly took the goal out of its sockets.

In 2001, Leeds travelled to Arsenal for their first away game of the season.

Both clubs were strongly fancied for the title and Leeds showed their credentials when they came away from Highbury with a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Ian Harte and Mark Viduka. The win was made even more enjoyable after they finished the game with nine men after both Lee Bowyer and Danny Mills were given their marching orders by Jeff Winter.

Just last season, Leeds probably produced their best home performance of the season when defeating Millwall 3-1.

Leeds had actually fallen behind early on when Richard Naylor headed through his own goal but strikes from Lloyd Sam and two from Davide Somma, his first for the club, ensured the win.
