LUFC Keogh's hard work rubs off on team

Simon Grayson believes that the hard work done by debutant Andy Keogh rubbed off on the rest of the squad, who bounced back from two straight defeats in the championship this season to record their first win.

Leeds recorded their first win of the season with an emphatic 4-1 win at Elland Road against Hull City.

Keogh played up front alongside Ross McCormack in a 4-4-2 formation, the first time that Grayson has used this formation in a long time.

The striker said earlier in the week that he had a point to prove to Leeds after being sold by the club in 2005, after he made just one appearance for Leeds in the League Cup under Kevin Blackwell in 2004.

Keogh worked hard and was a good outlet up front by holding the ball up and running down the channels and using his pace.

Grayson was pleased with his work rate and he believes this transmitted itself to the rest of the players. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "He worked, worked and worked, he has good quality and he transmitted that to the rest of the players as well."

The only thing Keogh failed to do on his debut was score but his fellow strike partner Ross McCormack showed the benefit of playing alongside him with a hardworking performance.

McCormack opened the scoring for Leeds and he has now scored in four of his last six competitive games for Leeds.

If he can keep his workrate and standard up then a deal might be done in January. It will cost us though because he's still got just under two years of his contract left.

Keogh will work and work and work, that's why he was loved by McCarthy and a few wolves fans, including myself. He doesn't have the quality required in the premier league, but for a grafting championship player he'll do a great job for you.

Dont think so Dazza. Hes in his last year and his contract expires summer 2012 so he may be in Bates price bracket. It wasnt just his work rate that impressed he made intellegent runs that got him the ball, held it up and layed it off well. For all of McCormacks better display last night he cant hold the ball up or challenge effectively in the air so the pair of them complemented each other. Hes got a bit of pace too.

His all round game is very good, the only area he needs to improve on is his finishing. I think he's good enough for the premiership and Id sooner see other "strikers" leave Wolves before Keogh. Great all round professional.

erni - Keogh said himself on Yorkshire Radio on Monday that not many people know but he's actually got two years left on his contract.

Good to see the Wolves lads saying he's an hard worker. As a striker though we need more goals from him.
