LUFC Grayson - We defended well as a team

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was happy with his defences performance against Hull City after having to make more changes at the back.

Leeds were forced into a change when Leigh Bromby, who made his first start of the season at the weekend was forced out through injury.

Aidy White, who hasn`t played since the Doncaster away game last September stepped in for a rare opportunity.

Leeds have now used seven different defenders in four games this season and tonight included two players under the age of 21 in White and Tom Lees.

Grayson felt that the defence restricted the Hull attack to very few clear cut chances, with their only goal coming after Tom Lees put through his own goal.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Grayson said, "There wasn`t too many clear opportunities for Hull, when you`ve got the fire power of Fryatt, McLean, Barmby and Adebola, there always threatening to get chances but I thought we defended well as a team tonight."

The game also saw experienced defender Patrick Kisnorbo wear the captain`s armband with Jonny Howson out suspended.

Kisnorbo is looking better with every game as he gets back to full fitness after fourteen months out after requiring surgery on an Achilles injury.

The defence will face a stern test next time out when they travel to West Ham United on Saturday who put four past Watford on Tuesday night.

I think we are getting better defensively but the fact we have used seven defenders in four games shows that Grayson still doesn't know whether to bat or bowl!? The plus points are Lonergan is settling in nicely, Kisnorbo is getting fitter and better and Lees is going to be pushing for player of the season, definitely young player.

The defence is looking much better without O'Brien and Connolly. Still unsure on O'Dea.
