LUFC Nunez makes decision to make Leeds impact

Leeds United attacking midfielder Ramon Nunez turned down an international call to further enhance his Leeds career in the midweek Carling Cup clash with Bradford City.

Honduras were hoping that Nunez would join up with the squad for their game against Venezuela but with wingers Max Gradel and Robert Snodgrass already on international duty, Nunez saw it as an opportunity to stake a claim in the Leeds United side after impressing during pre season.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson was impressed with the 25 year olds decision to opt to stay in Leeds and press his claims for a first team place.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, "Ramon wants to make an impact here.
"He has done very well internationally and is established, he knew he would get an opportunity here which he grasped."

Nunez made his first start for the club on Tuesday night as Leeds defeated near neighbours Bradford in the Carling Cup. The tricky Honduran played a key part in the game, scoring the first and third goals in the 3-2 win, his first goals competitively for the club.

Grayson will now have a big decision to make for the weekend game against Middlesbrough, with Gradel and Snodgrass returning to Elland Road after international duty.

Earned his right to play in my mind and Snoddy has earned his right to be dropped purely on last match performance IMO. I thought McCormacks confidence was impressive after he scored too, so I hope he can take this into the Boro game.

I think he knew he had to ake his chance at Leeds and knew he would get a start. Will be very unlucky if he is dropped on Saturday. The only way that Snodgrass could return to the side is because Grayson must think he's got a player full of confidence after his midweek performance for Scotland.

Grayson will go back to his usual line up
