LUFC Grayson full of praise for duo

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson was full of praise for Ramon Nunez and Adam Clayton after both played a key part in Leeds Carling Cup win over Bradford City.

Clayton produced his second Leeds man of the match of the season with another accomplished display in midfield and Nunez scored twice on his first start for the club.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Grayson said, "They had an opportunity tonight. Them two lads went out on loan last year and didn`t figure too much for us, but they`ve grasp the opportunity over the summer. They looked very lively and full credit to them and they deserve to get the plaudits they are going to get after tonight."

Clayton earned rave reviews from Grayson in pre season with his performances and he`s taken it into the season, starting the first two games.

The former Manchester City player made just four substitute appearances last season after joining in August and he spent time out on loan at Peterborough United and MK Dons.

Nunez joined in October last year and made just two substitute appearances before finishing the season at Scunthorpe United, scoring three goals in eight appearances.

The Honduras international also enjoyed a successful pre season and scored in the friendlies with Motherwell and Sandefjord.

Nunez came off the bench on Saturday and looked lively in a lacklustre Leeds display.

He now gives Grayson something to think about ahead of the weekend`s game against Middlesbrough after scoring twice.

Both Max Gradel and Robert Snodgrass return from international duty and face a fight to replace Nunez after he scored twice and could quite easily have scored a hat trick.

Clayton has looked really good so far this season. Been a huge plus in two disappointing games. Nunez needs a run in the same. I actually thought he was poor, maybe trying to hard. Scored two goals and should now be full of confidence. Got to start him on Saturday in place of Snodgrass.

ooh controversial! snodders will ask for a transfer or will work on his fitness... it's a bit of a chicken and egg situation. we have a number of players who would be first choice but who need games to get up their fitness which they can only really get from playing competitive games but how long does Grayson carry them in the team making such poor and possibly costly performances?
