LUFC Southampton v Leeds Head to Head

Vital Leeds United looks at the clubs head to head record at Southampton over the years.

The two sides have met on fourty-five occasions at Southampton over the years.

Both sides have won nineteen times with seven games being drawn.

Leeds have the slight edge with goals scored, scoring seventy-two to Southampton`s sixty-five.

The first ever meeting came during the 1922/23 season when Leeds won 1-0.

Southampton have enjoyed the better record since moving to St Mary`s Stadium.

In six meetings, they have won four to Leeds two.

The last two meetings have seen Southampton win both games 1-0.

When they last met during Leeds promotion season in 2009/10, former Leeds player Dan Harding scored the only goal of the game.

Leeds fans will remember fondly their visit on November 19th 2005. Trailing 3-0 with just nineteen minutes remaining, Leeds hit back to win 4-3.

Paul Butler started the comeback and further goals from Robbie Blake, David Healy and Liam Miller completed an astonishing turnaround.

1972. We won the one hundredth cup final. And another highlight. The meeting between these two sides at ER. 7-0. Yes. 7-0. Never avenged. Southampton always have an unease whenever they've played us since. Michael Bridges-that hattrick. Tony Currie and THAT banana shot. Hope Saturday match is also onew to remember

A lot of Leeds fans left the ground at 3-0 when we came back to win 4-3. The last time we went down there and lost 1-0 we was awful. That game is the only ever time I have seen us lose at Southampton in about eight visits.
