'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC 2010/11 Season Review - May

We move into the final month of the season with Leeds having just one game remaining and a very slim chance of reaching the play offs.

Leeds need a big win at Queens Park Rangers whilst Hoping Nottingham Forest are beaten at Crystal Palace.

The month starts with Max Gradel picking up the clubs player of the season award.

The winger had already chipped in with seventeen goals for the club in the season.

Also winning awards were John Howson who picked up the young player of the year and Bradley Johnson got the goal of the season for his strike against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Leeds final game of the season at Queens Park Rangers is chosen for live TV coverage, the twelfth time they had been shown live in the season.

John Howson is picked in Stuart Pearce`s provisional squad for England for the summers European championship finals in Denmark.

Ken Bates finally announces that he is the 'new` owner of Leeds United.

Leeds face an FA charge for their involvement in the fracas between both sets of players in the clubs last home game of the season against Burnley.

Luciano Becchio is definitely out for the remainder of the season after it is announced he requires surgery on his hamstring injury.

The season finishes at Queens Park Rangers with Leeds completing the double of the champions.

Leeds come from behind to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Max Gradel and Ross McCormack.

The best moment of the game is the return of long term injured Patrick Kisnorbo who comes off the bench inside the final fifteen minutes after fourteen months on the sidelines.

Nottingham Forest win at Crystal Palace to see Leeds finish one place outside the play offs in seventh place.

With the season over Simon Grayson announces his released list with Richard Naylor and Shane Higgs released from the club.

Leeds also place Mike Grella and Federico Bessone on the transfer list.

Leeds give Ramon Nunez a new one year deal at Elland Road after the Honduras international impressed whilst on loan at Scunthorpe United at the end of the season.

Leeds are fined 12.500 by the FA for their part in the fracas against Burnley.

The pre season programme is already coming together with games against Rochdale, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United already announced.

John Howson misses the final England squad for the Under 21 European championships.

Another ten months of following Leeds is all over and just the summer months of transfer rumours left to get us through until August.
