LUFC Nunez hoping form will earn new deal

Ramon Nunez is hoping to get his chance this season at Leeds United after failing to break into the side during last season and earn a longer contract in the process.

Nunez joined originally on a short-term deal in the autumn but made just two substitute appearances, both coming in October against Cardiff City and Scunthorpe United.

The 25 year old ended the season enjoying a successful loan spell at Scunthorpe United where he scored three times in eight games.

Now he is hoping to stake his claim for a regular spot in the side after impressing so far in pre season.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Nunez said, "I found the last year a bit frustrating but I guess that`s natural.
"I kept my head up and made sure I was focused and positive. It`s all you can do and it`s the only way to move forward.
"Being positive makes a difference to the way you play and I think that`s shown in pre-season so far.
"I`m getting a bit more of an opportunity and I feel in the right frame of mind to take it. It seems like I`ve got a good chance of getting into the starting XI."

Nunez is an experienced international with Honduras, playing in the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa.

Despite his limited chances at Elland Road last season he excelled internationally and he was vote the most valuable player at the Copa CentroAmerica tournament in January, a competition they went on to win when they beat Costa Rica 2-1 in the final.

Nunez is also hoping that his early season form might see him earn a new deal at Elland Road, "I`m settled in England and I`m happy at Leeds. They`re a team with a lot of tradition and a lot of history. Ideally, I`d like this to be a long-term thing for me, he continued.

The attacking midfielder will be out of contract at the end of this next season after signing a one-year deal earlier in the summer.

Lets hope he does impress and gets a three year deal. We don't want him just getting an extra year otherwise we could be faced with the same dilemma's we have found ourselves in over the past few seasons.

I'd say he will be a big hit in Leeds first team'' and will make a name for himself playing for us, if I was Grayson I'd give him a good contract, because I think we all know he can play and also score...When other clubs see him playing just like Gradel he'll be a wanted man...IMO...

Lets hope he gets a good chance to impress and if he does 3 year deal

Whats the betting he has a cracking season for us then walks at the end as we haven't tied him down and he can get better wages elsewhere?

We are so dire when it comes to offering contracts and contract extensions in particular, I think we've learnt our lesson about Seth Johnson now!
