'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC Who is Alexandre Mendy

A little bit more about our mystery trialist (Alexandre Mendy) who played in the first half at Rochdale on Tuesday night.

The 27-year-old French born winger started his career with French semi-professional side FC Versailles playing in the Division d`Honneur Paris Ile-de-France, which is in the fifth level of French football.

He made thirty-four appearances in a two year stint at the club between 2001-03, scoring one goal.

Mendy moved to the Czech Republic and played for FK Pribram in the Gambrinus liga, which is the top flight in the country.

He made fifty-seven appearances, scoring sixteen goals in a two-year stay.

He stayed in the Czech Republic when he joined FK Said Most.

The side finished twelfth in the Gambrinus Liga in his only full season, with Mendy scoring eight times during his stay.

Mendy moved on to another Czech top-flight side when he originally joined FK Mlada Boleslav on loan in 2007 and he appeared for them in the UEFA Europa League.

Boleslav went out in the group stages despite him scoring in games against Spanish side Villareal and Swedish side IF Elsborg and he joined the side on a full time basis in 2008.

Last season Mendy helped the side finish eighth last season and they won their first domestic trophy in their history. Boleslav beat SK Sigma Olumouc 4-3 on penalties, after a 1-1 draw in normal time in the Czech Republic Football Cup, their version of the FA Cup.

Mendy completed the ninety minutes in the final and scored from the penalty spot in the shoot out, to help the club qualify for the Europa League.

He played in all thirty games for Boleslav last season and netted six times.

The winger has made over 200 appearances during eight seasons in the Gambrinus Liga and as earned a reputation as a dynamic, technical attacker.

Now out of contract he`s having a trial at Leeds United, but don`t tell anyone.

Where did the other bits come from then Daz? Some other website on the net? Anyway, Wikipedia is usually very informative. For instance, did you know he was also Ken Bates Rent Boy?
