LUFC Leeds the Yorkshire Masters

Leeds United booked their place in the masters grand final after winning the Yorkshire masters in Sheffield.

Darren Huckerby was the star of the show scoring four times in the final against Sheffield United.

Leeds managed to win despite losing Noel Whelan from their squad after he suffered a back injury in their opening game.

Leeds eight man squad consisted of Tony O`Dowd, Andy Couzens, Kevin Sharp, Jamie Forrester, Noel Whelan, Darren Huckerby, Clyde Wijnhard and Paul Butler.

Six teams lined up for the Yorkshire masters with Sheffield United winning group A, knocking out Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday in the process.

Leeds lined up in group B with reigning champions Barnsley and West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield defeated Barnsley 4-3 in the opening group game before Leeds knocked Barnsley out of the tournament with a 3-2 win.

Darren Huckerby opened the scoring for Leeds, only to see them fall 2-1 behind before strikes from Jamie Forrester and a second goal of the game by Huckerby in the last minute to seal the win.

Huckerby scored twice more in the semi final as Leeds won an enthralling game against Huddersfield 4-3. Clyde Wijnhard and Jamie Forrester were also on target, with Forrester scoring the winner in the final two minutes.

In the final Leeds swept into a two-goal lead thanks to a double from Huckerby before a controversial goal from Craig Short got Sheffield United back into the game. Video replays clearly showing that his shot clearly hadn`t crossed the line.

The Blades drew level before Jamie Forrester restored Leeds lead.

The lead lasted barely thirty seconds before the scores were level again.

Golden boot winner and player of the Yorkshire masters, Darren Huckerby wasn`t to be denied, scoring twice in the final minute to secure the title with a 5-3 win.

Leeds will now line up in the grand final in London on September 4th, where all the regional winners will line up.

Maybe as we seem to be being linked with a host of former players, maybe we should try and entice Huckerby back to Elland Road. Thought he was awesome tonight. Winjhard was shocking alongside him. Yorkshire's, Yorkshire's number 1

Great performance by Huckerby, shame he couldn't do that ten years ago.
