LUFC Transfer rumours gather pace

LUFC Transfer rumours gather pace

The two weekly transfer rumour article has had to be narrowed down to a week after a busy week of rumours surrounding Leeds United.

The week starts with the shock news that Leeds have accepted a bid for regular goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester City.

Celtic are also rumoured to be interested in the Danish stopper by the end of the week.

With Leeds now looking like they will be without a regular keeper at the club the rumours go into overdrive as a number of goalkeepers are linked with a move to Elland Road.

Coventry City goalkeeper Keiren Westwood is linked with a move to Elland Road but unfortunately, he prefers the lure of Premier League Sunderland.

Fellow goalkeepers Jason Brown (Blackburn), Alex Smithies (Huddersfield), David Stockdale (Fulham), Lee Grant (Burnley), Fraser Forster (Newcastle United), Tomasz Kuszczak (Manchester United), Iain Turner (Everton) and Paul Rachubka (Blackpool) are all linked with a move to Elland Road.

Leeds finally make their first signing of the summer when Rachubka signs for free on a two year deal, after being released by Blackpool.

Former players Alan Smith, Jonathan Woodgate and Lee Bowyer continue to be linked with a return to Elland Road.

Probably the strangest rumour of the week is the rumour that Leeds are hoping to sign Torsten Frings from Werder Bremen.

The experienced 35-year-old German international is out of contract with Bremen.

Crystal Palace midfielder Neil Danns is once again linked with Leeds but looks set to sign for Glasgow Rangers.

Max Gradel continues to be linked with a number of clubs with West Ham United, Stoke City, Newcastle United and Fulham all interested.

In Saturday`s Sun, they reported that Nick Montgomery from Sheffield United would sign this week after accepting terms at Leeds. The deal will also involve Billy 'one goal` Paynter going in the opposite direction

After a disappointing start to the week, it finishes on a good note when the softest tackler ever to play in the Leeds midfield, Neil Kilkenny finally gets his dream move to an ambitious club 'Bristol City`.

I am sure I have missed a number of rumours this week and it`s sure to be just as busy next week as the season draws ever closer.
