LUFC Schmeichel to open talks with Leicester

Leeds United goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is to open contract talks with Leicester City in the next few days according to his agent Tony Lymn.

Schmeichel was told on Monday by Leeds that they had accepted a bid from Leicester, much to the keeper`s surprise, who admitted in a statement on twitter he was looking forward to helping Leeds push for promotion next season.

Now that the player and his agent know the situation, negotiations with Leicester can begin. Lymn speaking in the Leicester Mercury said, 'We will probably open a dialogue with Leicester in the next few days.'

Lymn now expects other clubs to become involved now that they know that Schmeichel is available, 'We are aware there will be interest because he is a good player. We must now consider what to do and think it through,' he continued.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson has said that Leeds have already agreed a deal to bring in a goalkeeper, but with them currently without a recognised goalkeeper, having already released Shane Higgs this summer its not know whether he is a replacement for Schmeichel or Higgs.
