LUFC Grayson being backed for Villa post

Leeds United manager Simon Grayson is being heavily backed for the vacant Aston Villa managers job.

William Hills have confirmed that the former Villa player`s odds have dropped from 50/1 to 5/2 favourite, after a series of bets on the current Leeds boss.

Graham Sharp, the media relations director for William Hills admitted that there have been a number of bets on Grayson becoming the next Villa boss, both online and in North Yorkshire getting shops.
"The source of the bets would not give the lie to suggestions that someone connected to Leeds may have had the nod that Grayson was a serious contender for Villa," Sharp said in the Metro newspaper.

Sky Bet has also seen a number of bets placed on Grayson, reducing his odds from 25/1 to 5/2 favourite.

Grayson joined Leeds in December 2008 and led them to promotion from League One in his first full season in charge.

He also led Leeds to a respectable seventh place finish in their first season back in the Championship.

The boyhood Leeds fan joined Leeds from Blackpool in December 2008.

In his first full season at Bloomfield Road he led Blackpool to the championship via the play offs,he then helped them maintain their place in the Championship the following season.

Leeds has a good working relationship with Villa over the last few years after Leeds youngster Fabien Delph moved to Villa Park.

Leeds chairman Ken Bates said at the time how well Villa had conducted themselves during the negotiations.

Since then a number of Villa players have enjoyed loan spells at Elland Road including Eric Lichaj and Barry Bannan last season.

If he goes then good luck to him. He will get a much bigger budget to work with at Villa and it will also be in the Premier League. The only problem for him is can he leave Leeds with an unfinished job, the team he's supported all his life.

When you look at Graysons record in management he's done well. First full season at Blackpool - promotion Second season - maintain place in Championship which had the time was seen as a huge success. First full season at Leeds - promotion and winning in the scums back garden as well as breaking a host of club records at Leeds. Second season - Just missed play offs on a tight budget. With the luck Villa have had with managers in the past few years why shouldn't they take a punt on Grayson. There was probably more pressure on him to succeed at Leeds than there will be at Villa.

My monies on him staying, though I never win

would you think he is able to make the leap up to dealing with higher transfer fees etc, he ready you think? Not said in any disprespect folks, just trying to make heads or tails of all these links!
The Fear
Your fears are exactly the same of ours, when he left Blackpool to join Leeds. The pressure and the expectancy was far greater at Leeds. When you look at his overall record he's done well. Only time will really tell whether he can make it in the Premier League. In recent seasons he's shown he's got what it takes against the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and Spurs, so he's obviously got tactical nous.

Grayson needs to stay at Leeds I dont think he's ready yet and he will get promotion with Leeds next season. If he comes to us he will get mid table, which looks better on a c.v? He's a Leeds fan too.Don't worry United fans I think this is all an elaborate smoke screen so we can snatch Howard Wilkinson.
