LUFC Bates Midfield and defence are priorities

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates admits the club are looking to bolster their defence and midfield over the summer.

Leeds conceded 70 goals in the championship last season, so it`s an obvious area that Leeds need to strengthen.

With Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny moving on during the summer Leeds are also short in the midfield area.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, We are happy with our strikers, It`s the defence and the midfield we need to strengthen"

Bates also has a swipe at departing duo Johnson and Kilkenny, who turned down the offers of new contracts from Leeds and will depart on free transfers at the end of this month, "Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny are moving on because we need better," he continued.

Leeds continues to be linked with a number of players, but have yet to make their first signing of the summer.
