LUFC Johnson wants Leeds stay

Out of contract Leeds United midfielder Bradley Johnson admits he would like to remain at Elland Road.

The 24 year old was placed on the transfer list in November after negotiations between Leeds and Johnson broke down.

Despite being placed on the transfer list, Johnson continued to be a regular in the Leeds line up.

Now that the season is over, Johnson is hoping that a deal can be reached between the two parties. Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Johnson said, "We said we`d wait until the end of the season and now it`s here, so hopefully we`ll be in talks during the week.
"I`d like to stay. I love the club; but it`s taken this long to agree something and obviously other clubs are interested, so it`s up in the air.
"It`s every kid`s dream to play in the Premiership and if I get the opportunity, it`s going to be a hard decision for me because I love the club (Leeds) and I want to be here."

Johnson missed just one Championship game during the season and that was through suspension after his sending off against Barnsley.

He was also subjected to booing from the Elland Road crowd after a couple of lacklustre performances following the announcement of him being placed on the transfer list.

Rather than allowing his head to drop, Johnson reacted well and became a consistent performer over the rest of the season in his more preferred role in the centre of midfield.

The midfielder recently won the fans vote for the goal of the season for his thunderous strike against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Johnson was a regular in the League One promotion side and he now wants to stay at Leeds and help lead them back to the Premier League, "I`ve been here three years and it`s been the best time of my career. I`ve enjoyed my football and living in Leeds and everything about Leeds.
"Getting them promoted from League One was my aim and getting them out of the Championship is my ambition now and I want to make history at this club and be in the team that does it," he continued.

Johnson joined Leeds in January 2008 from Northampton and he`s gone on to make 140 appearances during his time at Elland Road.

Will he want to stay now we haven't gone up. I think he's just trying to say the right things.
