LUFC Grayson - We`ve had a good season

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is confident he will still be in charge of the club at the start of next season despite their poor run of form that as left them outside the play off places and insists they have had a good season.

Grayson joined Leeds in December 2008 and as since lead the club out of League One and back into the Championship in his first full season in charge.

Leeds looked certainties for at least a play off place at the turn of the year after enjoying a twelve match unbeaten run that saw them go into Christmas in second place.

The clubs fortunes have taken a down turn since then though and they have won just six games in 2011 that as seen them drop to ninth in the Championship with two games remaining.

Despite the second half of the season performance, Grayson is happy with the progress made by the side this season and is confident of still being at Elland Road in August.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post , Grayson said, "I`ve spoken to the chairman and we`ve progressed as a football club since I came here. He said we`ve got a long-term relationship.
"We`ve had a fantastic season so far and I`m not being big-headed but I`ve got no reason to think I`ll lose my job if we don`t get promoted.
"The remit at the start of the season wasn`t to get promoted. It was to make sure we were in the Championship at the end of the season.
"I`ve done that, we`ve had a good season and I`ve got no fear of losing my job."

Maybe Leeds overachieved in the eyes of the management at Elland Road in the first half of the season but was as been clearly lacking in the past few months of the season is any passion, commitment and desire to win from the players.

Leeds have put in a number of very ordinary performances in games against Swansea City, Sheffield United, Derby County and Crystal Palace recently at a time when they should have been fighting to retain their place in the Play Offs.

I still think Grayson is the man for the job, but what he now needs to do is sit down over the summer and decide which of the current squad can take Leeds to the next level and make a serious challenge for a place back in the Premier League.

I think he is right in what he says but what is unacceptable is the standard of performance by the players. Grayson is doing a good job and just needs get rid of some of the 'deadwood'. He also needs to find a player who can lead the team forward. We have no leader on the pitch and we need this to make sure the rest of the team are kept on their toes. Far to easy for players to go missing in games when there is no leader on the pitch. We don't need to change a manager, what we need is stability. We have had enough change in the last ten years. We are going in the right direction, after the complete mess we was in a few years ago we need to build one stage at a time.

We have had a good season but it was definitely a missed opportunity
