LUFC Leeds request that fans keep off the pitch

Leeds United have asked fans to remain off the pitch at the end of Saturday`s game, so that Simon Grayson and his players can complete a lap of the ground to thank the fans for their support this season.

Leeds fans invaded the pitch after the final game of last season that saw the club promoted from League One.

Despite a number of requests on both the TV screen and over the P.A system for fans to return to the stands, the players and management could only return to the pitch for a short while before being mobbed by fans coming on the pitch again.

A representative for the club said: "Our fans are reminded that it`s an offence to encroach or run onto the playing area.
"Whatever the result, Simon and the players want to come back on to the pitch to say thank you to the crowd for their support this season. They`ll only be able to do that if the pitch is clear."

Leeds will be hoping to sign off at Elland Road with a win against Burnley to keep their slim play off chances alive and make it sixteen games unbeaten at home since losing to Cardiff in October.

Why would you run on the pitch anyway? Don't you do that when your club has won something? Got to a final, promoted or scraped relegation survival, not finishing mid table.

It must have been a while since there was a pitch invasion at Villa! Unfortunately some numpties can't help themselves and we have a long history of pitch invasion at the last game of the season both home and away.
