LUFC Fans view v Watford

Tiny T gives us his usual fans view after the game at Elland Road following another disappointing performance, this time against Watford.

Schmeichel 4

At fault for the first goal and didn't command his area, his distribution was also weak.

Lichaj 7 Star man
Solid enough and stuck to his task well, unlike the rest of the defence.

O'Brien 4
All at sea, never looked happy all game.

Bromby 4
Again poor, too many aimless balls forward, let the ball bounce too many times putting him under needless pressure.

McCartney 3
Why do we persist with him, premiership your having a laugh. Weak defending, offered little going forward.

Snodgrass 5
Occasional glimpses but no quality ball to work off.

Kilkenny 3
Wants to be a centre half at times as he needs to grow, learn to tackle and head the ball.
He`s too easily brushed aside also poor delivery from set pieces, as he cannot beat the first defender.

Johnson 5
Put himself about, wasteful at times and nearly scored with a header.

Howson 4
Wasted wide left, needs to be more involved.

Gradel 6
Ran the front line on his own for much of the first half, less involved in the second, needs to get his head up more. Needs to learn the offside rule!

Somma 2
Missing in action, what little he did.

Becchio 7
For the short period he was on, scored one and missed one but we started to get on the front foot, should have started.

Bannan 6
Better delivery and it got us in front, livelier than the player he replaced.

Not on long enough

Grayson 4
Not often I do this but he got it wrong today.

A waste of space and with his linesman they missed a certain penalty. Why do we get bad Refs?

Team set up was wrong for me today, we needed a character building performance and got a weak lettuce.
We got in front and gave it away again thankfully an own goal came to the rescue.
Its time for Grayson to admit he's got defenders who aren't up to it, next season we need a whole back four who know how to concentrate for the whole of the match and give us a solid platform to work from.
Communication - Do they know each other or do they only meet five minutes before Kick off?
The third worst defence in the League says it all.

Looking forward Reading next and Hull and Forest on our tails, we need to tough out the next four games to make the playoffs.

Thanks for your thoughts Tiny

Think you have got it spot on Tiny, My thoughts Schmeichel After Tuesday I commented on how Schmeichel isn't the keeper he was back at the start of the season and one moment early in the first half summed it up when he decided to stay on his line allowing Graham in to get a shot in on goal. Early season he would have been flying off the line to claim the ball. Lichaj Another solid performance. Been really impressed with him since his arrival, hope Grayson can make it permanent in the summer. Bromby Outmuscled by Graham and like Tiny said, kept letting the ball bounce and allowing Graham to outmuscle him. O'Brien Experienced defender, what was he doing with the second goal, diving in. He should be telling the youngsters, stay on your feet, instead he's doing what an experienced player would do. McCartney Never rated him defensively, I was crirtical of him in November as most of the goals conceded were down his side. Where was he for the first goal, nearer right back than left back!! Howson He showed last season that he's wasted on the wing. at his best in the centre running at players. Snodgrass Clearly not fit, was holding his back on regular occasions and hardly got in the game. Gradel Teams have now done there homework on him and he's being less effective in games and he missed a sitter in the first half. Somma Did he play? showed he can't play up front on his won, but I thought we'd established that earlier in the season. Kilkenny Did he play?? Can't remember any invovlement in the game at all. Johnson Battled but struggled to make any influence. Becchio He was ineffective on Tuesday and I can understand why Grayson gave the guy a rest. We looked a totally different side when he came on and I think we would have won the game had he not gone off injured. Bannan More involved and quality delivery. Didn't track back to pick up Hodson for the first goal but really should have been McCartney's man who had gone awol. I think by 5pm Easter Monday we will be eighth at best. On our recent perfromances Reading will destroy us and Palace are bound to raise their game next Monday as they are desperate for points at the wrong end of the table.
If we still make the playoffs, they are all about "commitment and hard fought battles". Unfortunately, despite the high levels of individuals skill in the team, these are ingredients that Leeds as a team simply do not have ! .... At least if we do not make the Prem League this time, I will not feel as deflated as I do following our usual "playoffs collapse", as promotion now would be massively against the odds.
I think if we somehow made the final we would have put so much into the two legged semi that we would fail to turn up once again. I can't see us holding onto sixth spot though on the last month's performances.
on the upside we are due another run. (fome sucking chance i hear you say.) if we can just fall over the line and hope other results go our way u never know. another plus; last couple of seasons, if my memory serves me right, blackpool and burnley were least fancied of the 4 sides to be promoted come the playoffs.
Sleeping Giants
Difference was they were the form sides going into the play offs not one win in six. 25 points from 18 games in 2011.
