LUFC Leeds v Watford Head To Head

Vital Leeds looks at the head to head record between Leeds and Watford at Elland Road through the years.

The two sides have only ever met on seven occasions with Leeds winning four, Watford two and one draw.

The first meeting between the two sides came during the 1984/85 season when Watford won a Milk Cup third round tie 4-0.

The first league encounter between the two came during the 1988/89 season when Watford claimed all three points in a 1-0 win.

Leeds claimed their first victory the following season when goals from Chris Fairclough and Andy Williams helped secure a 2-1 win as they marched on towards the Division Two title.

It was another decade before the two sides met again when goals from Michael Bridges, Michael Duberry and Darren Huckerby helped secure a 3-1 Leeds victory in the Premier League.

The next meeting came in the Championship during the 2004/05 season and is the only draw between the two sides to date.

Watford twice took the lead through Bruce Dyer but a goal from Jermaine Wright and a late goal from Clarke Carlisle salvaged a point in a 2-2 draw.

The following season Leeds again came from behind to claim a 2-1 win.

Ashley Young had given the visitors a first half lead but two goals from Robbie Blake ensured the points stayed at Elland Road.

The last meeting between the two came in the second round of last seasons Carling Cup when Leeds won in extra time thanks to two goals from Robert Snodgrass.

Snodgrass looked to have won the game for Leeds in normal time until a late Marvin Sordell goal sent the game into extra time.

Leeds weren`t to be denied when Snodgrass struck just eight minutes into extra time to earn Leeds a place in round three.

Average is over three goals a game when the two meet and we are both the highest scorers in the Division. Looks a nailed on 0-0.
