LUFC Former Leeds trio take top awards

Three former Leeds favourites have picked up the awards in the npower manager and player of the month for March.

Ian Harte picked up the player of the month in the Championship after an impressive month at left back for Reading.

His form as helped the Royals into the play off positions after winning all five of their Championship games during the month of March.

Harte also chipped in with three goals as his trademark free kicks continue to do the trick.

Despite winning all five of their games during the month, their manager Brian McDermott was somehow overlooked for the manager`s award.

Watford manager Malky Mackay took the award after seeing his side win three, draw one and lose one of their five games.

In League One former Leeds assistant manager Gus Poyet took the managers award.

Poyet saw his side win all eight League One games during the month and they look well set for promotion to the Championship.

The seagulls are eleven points clear of second place and three wins from their final seven games will guarantee promotion.

It`s the second time that Poyet as taken the award this season.

Brighton goalkeeper Casper Ankergren, who was released at the end of last season by Leeds, picked up the goalkeepers award.

Ankergren kept six clean sheets out of the eight games Brighton played during the month and it`s also the second time he`s taken the award this season.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson was overlooked for the manager`s award after seeing his side pick up seven points from a possible twelve and no Leeds player made the shortlist for the Championship player of the month.

I told you we should never have let Ankergren go!lol. I wish we had brought Harte back to Elland Road, he would have been much better than McCartney.
