LUFC Reserves title hopes hit

Leeds grip on the Totesport Central League East Division took a blow with a 1-0 home defeat to nearest rivals Middlesbrough at Elland Road.

Leeds boss Neil Redfearn named a very inexperienced side with just Ross McCormack and Richard Naylor playing who have first team experience.

McCormack missed a great chance to give Leeds an early lead when he failed to convert from the penalty spot when Ripley in the Boro goal saved his effort.

The only goal of the game came on the stroke of half time when Richard Naylor lost his man and Wyke headed in at the near post.

Middlesbrough should have put the game beyond doubt in the second half when Park managed to miss the target with an open goal in front of him.

Leeds best effort came in the closing seconds when Ripley saved a Nathan Turner effort.

The win for Boro moves them two points ahead of Leeds with a game in hand and with Leeds having just one game remaining it looks unlikely that the will be winning the league for the third season in a row.

Any wonder with Naylor in the side.

Time for Naylor to go, he's been a liability for the past two seasons.
