'If It's Football, It's Vital'

LUFC View from the opposition manager

Ipswich Town manager Paul Jewell felt that the referee had a good game and believed he didn`t buckle under the pressure of the Leeds crowd.

Jewell feels that the Leeds crowd can put pressure on officials at Elland Road, claiming we can try to influence the decisions of the referee.

Speaking after the game, Jewell said, 'I thought the referee was good. You know what Leeds are like, they want a penalty every time the ball goes in the box.
'They have a passionate crowd. I wouldn't say they can influence referees, just twist their arm!"

Jewell was also pleased to see his side deny free scoring Leeds with a solid defensive display that stopped Leeds from scoring at home for only the second home game this season.

'I am pleased with a point at Leeds. It was a scrappy game on a difficult pitch and our defence was excellent because Leeds are a team that can score loads of goals,' he continued.

Ipswich started the game well and could have taken the lead inside thirty seconds when Tamas Priskin shot wide.
Once Leeds got going it was backs to the wall stuff as they piled the pressure on the visitors in the second half, John Howson, Robert Snodgrass, Billy Paynter and Max Gradel all having good chances to win the game.
