LUFC Grayson confident of keeping star players

Leeds United boss Simon Grayson is confident of holding onto his star players if the club don`t go up this season.

Leeds are handily placed in sixth place in the Championship at the moment, just three points behind the automatic promotion places.

A number of players are enjoying a fantastic run of form this season that has started to alert those clubs already in the Premier League.

Grayson is confident of holding on to these players though, whether they stay in the Championship or gain promotion this season.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Post, Grayson said, "Promotion would help, of course, to secure our best players. But we are not in the position where we have to sell our best players.
"I have said many times that every player has his price but we would not be looking to sell players if we don`t make it into the Premier League this year.
"The players who have done well for us this season realise they can fulfil their ambition at this club. The majority are on long-term contracts and see a successful club in Leeds as better than going to one or two who are already in the Premier League."

Max Gradel, Kasper Schmeichel and Robert Snodgrass are all getting plenty of attention at the moment and the rumour mill will go into melt down when the season finishes if Leeds fail to gain promotion.

Leeds also have two regular first team players out of contract at the end of the season. Both Bradley Johnson and Neil Kilkenny are already being rumoured with a number of Premier League clubs.

I can see a few clubs willing to offer silly money for players like Snodgrass, Gradel and Schmeichel. Something that Bates will find hard to turn down. I do think we need to go up this season to hold onto these players.

I admire Grayson's enthusiasm in saying if Leeds dont go up we'll still be able to hang onto some of our best players even though some have long contracts' which are not worth the paper there wrote on...If we dont go up imo I'd say the magnet of the PL! Would be to strong and we'd lose some of our best players probably Gradel, Kasper, to mention a few not to sure about Snodgrass? But hopefully we wont have to worry about losing any because Leeds will be going up...

Any Club will find silly money hard to refuse and we are no different, but hopefully Scrooge will refuse and the players will show some loyalty
