Bates not panicking over lack of transfer movement

Ken Bates isn`t panicking with Leeds lack of activity in the transfer market during the January transfer window.

With the window closing on Monday evening, Bates isn`t panicking and is leaving it up to manager Simon Grayson and his backroom team.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bates said, 'Talking to all the people at the club, I don't think there is any panic anywhere.

'We have been reviewing our options, watching alternative players play to see how we can improve and if we can improve our team. I don't want to be taking people just for the sake of taking them on.'

Grayson has indicated in recent days that he is progressing in talks with one or two players over a move to Elland Road.

The manager as been a strong user of the loan system since his arrival at Elland Road and if he fails with his attempts to sign new players, he may rely on the loan window that reopens in just over a week`s time.

Bates also sees the loan window as another opportunity to improve the squad, 'There's no panic. After all, on February 5 you can start signing people on 93-day loans, so this transfer window is a bit over-exaggerated anyway."

Simon Grayson has already strengthened his squad during the transfer window, bringing in defender`s Andy O`Brien in a two and a half year deal and George McCartney extending his loan from Sunderland for the remainder of the season.

Keep up to date with any last minute deals as the January transfer window closes on Monday evening, here on Vital Leeds.

To me we have just lost a month of any good player we want to sign or loan while we struggle in the league.
erni
I'm sure he's not panicking if it means keeping money in his pocket. Didn't he say earlier this month that all the money made from the FA Cup games with Arsenal would be made available this month?
dazza71
I agree erni, why do clubs leave the window until the last day when you could have been using a new player for a month.
dazza71
The longer Bates waits the more money he'll be saving he's a liar and a conner just for a few extra bob Bates you ''Blank''...

We will probably see a fre transfer and a loan arrive in on Monday.
