LUFC Fans view v Portsmouth

Tiny T gives us his usual fans view from the game at Elland Road, this time after the frustrating draw with Portsmouth.

Schmeichel 7
Some good stops but what a mess for the equaliser, his kicking distribution at times poor.

Connolly 7
Got forward well and held his own in defence.

Collins 5
Poor performance, occasional good tackle, distribution is Row Z most of the time but his concentration levels when we go in front are not 100%.

O'Brien 5
Like his central defensive partner not at the races when it mattered, and an own goal, disappointing.

McCartney 7
A good shift at left back, solid and reliable.

Snodgrass 7
Good first half and glimpses in the second, an assist for the second goal. They had to put two on him to stop him playing and sometimes that didn't work.

Howson 7
Well taken goal, dropped deeper in the second half as we needed bodies in the middle.

Johnson 8 Star man
Defended well, broke up play, scored, what more could we ask. Distribution let him down at times. New contract ???

McCormack 7
Glimpses at times with great vision to switch play, should have had a penalty at 3-2 when up ended in the area.

Gradel 6
Though he scored I thought he flattered at times, needs to use those around him more.

Paynter 7
Another who had a better first half than second half, the hour he got will stand him in good stead with match fitness, a goal will improve his confidence.

Substitutes

Becchio 6

Nearly scored with his first touch, and had a last minute penalty denied.

Sam 5
Needs more game time.

Summary
A game we should have won with ease, poor concentration for the goals and an inability to defend is a problem Grayson will have to solve.

Time for the central defenders to stand up and be counted or open the door and taxi time, we give away too many easy goals without scoring for the opposition as well.

Going forward we were inventive, but wasted quite a bit by poor delivery or one player trying to do everything with others in a better position.

The Referee/Linesmen were a disgrace, none could make a decision if there life depended on it, games at Elland Road are big for both sides and they deserve first class officials, unfortunately this rarely happens and the three today were appalling

Plus side 11 games unbeaten now onto number 12.

Cheers Tiny as ever for your thoughts.

McCartney 7 A good shift at left back, solid and reliable. Not sure about this view - although let down by poor Gradel defending - two goals came down their right. I think Gradel suffered fitness wise when we seemed to play 442 - a formation that requires your wingers to work a bit harder than the 4231 SG has been playing.

Eh??? - McCartney had an absolute shocker and Schmeichel was well below par - but its the Johnson score that had me baffled

being fair NONE of the players had a fighting chance of performing well yesterday - Webb had made his mind up that Leeds were getting nothing long before the game kicked off - how can a team play well when every move gets pulled back and opposition can kick bite and throw your players around without being punished??

I have issued with a number of players at the moment. I said shortly before their thrid goal to Des that Schmeichel just isn't dominating his area like he was early season. In his first game back from injury he got in a tangle with Bruce for Cardiff's first goal and since then as looked very ordinary. 5/10 for me. George McCartney as been poor for weeks, especially at home. Every goal that we have conceded at Elland Road since Bristol City have come from the left. He fell over the player and allowed him in to cross for Bristol's equaliser. Went missing when the Palace player went down the wing to cross for their goal and he had something to do or should I say lack of, with every goal we conceded yesterday. Got under the ball and ended up on his backside that ended up with Nugent getting in for their first. Ball came in from his side for the second and where was he for the third. 3rd minute of injury time and he is one of four Leeds players picking up a Portsmouth player whilst Ciftci was in behind and allowed plenty of room to run into for the calamity equaliser. Resorted to trying to pull the shirts of the Portsmouth players backs in the final ten minutes that to me means he was knackered. His loan is about up, just Middlesbrough to go, I would get Ben Parker back in. This marks comed from Tiny, who continously slates Andy Hughes, I bet he wouldn't have got a 7 with the same performance. Not sure how you can say he had a good shift after that 4/10. Those are my two biggest gripes. Thought Connolly struggled to cope with Utaka in the first half and he regularly got in behind. Second half he kept him quiet. Snodgrass ran them ragged all afternoon and contiously beat the left back and the central defender, as usual his final ball regularly lets him down but that is the trait of a typical winger. I can agree with the rest, thought Johnson was by far the pick of the midffielders.

How can Schmeichel, Connolly and McCartney get the same mark as Snodgrass, you have got to be having a laugh!

God Tiny T got a bit of ribbing there. Won't do that again in a hurry. Its your opinion and that's all that matters
