LUFC Grayson -Two years have gone by so quickly

Leeds United manager can`t believe how quickly the time as gone as he celebrates two years in charge at Elland Road today and he is immensely proud of what he as achieved at the club he`s supported since his childhood.

Speaking on the official website, Grayson said, "It`s gone very quickly. I was very proud when I came back and joined and I`m still immensely proud."

Grayson took over with the club struggling after suffering five consecutive defeats under previous manager Gary McAllister, including the embarrassing FA Cup defeat at non-league Histon Town.

The former Leeds apprentice quickly turned around the fortunes of the side and they managed to reach the end of season play offs, before being defeated by Millwall in the semi finals.

In his second season Grayson`s side led League One going into the New Year by twelve points before stumbling across the line on the final day of the season with victory over Bristol Rovers.

Despite struggling to get over the line, Grayson had achieved his first goal at Elland Road, "Promotion was obviously the main aim and we did that," he continued.

Grayson will also go down in Elland Road folklore, as he became the first manager since Allan Clarke to manage a Leeds team to victory at Manchester United since 1981.

A solitary Jermaine Beckford goal was enough for Leeds to provide the shock of the round as they beat the Premier League Champions.

Grayson is now looking forward to presiding over some more memorable moments at Elland Road in the years to come, "Fortunately we`ve had more good points than bad points over the last couple of years and I hope I`m here for a few more years yet," he said.

Leeds are currently in their best position since being relegated to the Championship in 2004. They are currently in second place, filling the last automatic promotion spot after beating league leaders Queens Park Rangers 2-0 last Saturday.

Since his arrival, his side have broken two long-standing club records that were set during the glory days of the Revie era.

They now hold the club record for fifteen straight league home wins, beating the previous best of thirteen set by the Revie side of 1968/69.

They also won their first eight games of the 2009/10 season in all competitions beating another record that was set by the great Revie side in 1973.

Grayson has a great win ratio since his arrival at Elland Road, his side have played 111 games since his arrival in all competitions, winning 62, drawing 23 and losing 26 with a win ratio of 55.86.

Although at a lower level, this is a better win ratio than the Leeds most successful managers over the last fourty years, Don Revie had a win ratio of 52.2% and Howard Wilkinson 43.25%.

Ironically Grayson will celebrate two years in charge when his side face the same opposition they faced in his first game in charge on Boxing Day 2008 when they travel to Leicester City.

In 2008, Leeds held league leaders Leicester to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road thanks to an injury time equaliser from Robert Snodgrass and they will be hoping for at least a result similar to that as they continue their push up the Championship table.
