LUFC Bates confident of Becchio deal

Following on from his blast at Bradley Johnson, Leeds chairman Ken Bates says that he is hopeful the negotiations with Luciano Becchio will be sorted out in the near future.

Becchio is in the form of his life at Elland Road this season having found the net eleven times already.

The Argentinian is out of contract in the summer but Bates is sure that they can sort out a new deal for Becchio. Speaking on Yorkshire Radio, Bates said, "We have no real problems with Luciano. He wants to stay at the club and the only thing is, his agent lives elsewhere and we have language problems. But we are hopeful to resolve that."

Becchio seems to be revelling in the striker role now that he doesn`t have to do the work of two men and recently scored his first hat trick in Leeds colours.

With the January transfer window looming, Leeds fans will be hoping that the club can announce some good news surrounding Becchio and not have the sage that surrounded the eventual departure of Jermaine Beckford last season.

I think Bates knows there is a lot of pressure on him with this deal. Fans could stomach Beckford last season and I don't think many care about Kilkenny or Johnson but Becchio is a real fans favourite and the way he's started this season then there could be a lot of very unhappy Leeds fans if he was either allowed to leave in January or was another to walk away on a free at the end of the season.

If this is true and Becchio wants to stay and his agent wants his 15% surely he'd be at ER sorting Becchio's contract out...As a Leeds fan I want him to stay like all Leeds fan's I'm sure but I'm sick of all this contract fiasco...Leeds getting held to ransom by players and agents is a joke...

One player we need to keep is Luciano, alot of fans would be majorly pee'd off if he left
