LUFC Bates hoping to keep O'Brien

Leeds United chairman Ken Bates is hopeful that the club can keep Andy O`Brien when his current loan deal runs out in January.

O`Brien extended his stay at Elland Road earlier this week from Bolton Wanderers after impressing during his initial month on loan, as Leeds remained unbeaten.

Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Bates said, 'I'm very happy to say that we've got an agreement with Bolton to extend his loan until January. Then we'll hopefully talk to Bolton again to see if we can keep him for longer.

The 31 year old was actually released by Leeds as a 14 year old before enjoying his career in the Premiership with Bradford City, Portsmouth, Newcastle and Bolton.

O`Brien has also managed to get himself on the score sheet since his arrival when he netted against Hull City.

I hope we do keep him, he's made the defence look more solid and his organisation as helped out. Still can't keep clean sheets though!

everyone was laughing when we signed him..i knew he would do a job, maybe not in the premiership but he has a few years left in the championship.since his arrival were unbeaten, its obviously not jus him but he`s played a big part...fingers crossed we get him cause looks like paddy is gone and naylor is injured(and rubbish)

I wonder how much he would cost, can't see it being more than 3-400,000.
King Billy

His name always seemed to be on someone's lips. Like so much player rumour and speculation we never thought he'd actually end up here. Now we've got him and -hopefully-can keep him. He's transforming the team at the back into a more solid unit.
